Vehicle permits, matched to how long you need the car on the road
Three-day, thirty-day and ninety-day permits, plus overweight, mobile home and commercial permits. Each one has its own eligibility limit.
Chapter 01
Three timed permits, three different limits
Arizona Auto License issues three permits built around how long a vehicle needs to be on the road without full registration: three-day, thirty-day and ninety-day. They are not interchangeable, and each has its own eligibility attached.
A 3-day permit is open to anyone, with no ownership requirement. You're allowed three of them in any twelve-month period.
A 30-day resident permit is narrower. Only the registered owner of the vehicle can get one, and it's limited to one per twelve months.

The 90-day permit has two versions
The 90-day permit splits into a non-resident version and a resident version, and they solve different problems.
The non-resident version is for someone who bought a vehicle out of state and needs to drive it home to Arizona. The resident version is for an Arizona resident who already owns the vehicle but is still waiting on further documents to finish registering it. The resident version is limited to one per twelve months.
Chapter 03
Overweight, mobile home and commercial permits
Two more permits are available at the counter alongside the three above: a mobile home permit and a commercial permit, plus the overweight permit. All three are filed the same way, at the counter rather than mailed off somewhere.
